Between External Attribution and Self-Positioning: Differentiated Perspectives on a Diverse Region
From a German and European perspective, Central Asia often appears as one vast geographic space. Rarely, however, do we consider the very different peoples, the various political systems, and the rich cultural diversity of the Central Asian states. This diversity will be highlighted through the countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
The conference will present their cultures, political and economic situations, and civil society activities. It will raise awareness of the region’s specific geopolitical circumstances and the resulting conflicts, while discussing its importance for strategic, economic, and cultural partnerships with Germany and the EU.
Time: 10.-12.10.2025
Place: Schlossplatz 1d, 06886 Lutherstadt Wittenberg
The conference is organized in cooperation with the Evangelische Akademie Sachsen-Anhalt e.V..
