Between the end of October and the beginning of November 2023, numerous meetings and discussions took place in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan between representatives of the Foundation and individuals from civil society, academia and politics. The purpose of the trip to Central Asia was to establish contacts with potential partner organisations and interested groups. The West-Eastern Encounters Foundation has been focusing its work increasingly on the countries of Central Asia for some time now.

In the medium and long term, the Foundation aims to contribute to the collaboration of civil society actors and support the initiation and development of encounter and project formats. To this end, the Foundation plans to establish a central platform for exchange and inter-societal cooperation between Central Asian countries and Germany. The first multi-day meeting is scheduled to take place in Berlin in autumn 2024.
