The West-Eastern Encounters Foundation continues its commitment to German-Ukrainian medical cooperation in a humanitarian context. Following last year’s successful pilot project, 2026 marks the second observership by a Ukrainian doctor in Thuringia.
From 5 to 13 September 2026, Dr M. B. Yatsuliak is undertaking an observership at the Orthopaedic Clinic of Marienstift Arnstadt. The visit provides an opportunity for direct professional exchange between Ukrainian and German medical professionals and for sharing insights into different approaches to treatment and clinical practice. Dr Yatsuliak received a warm welcome from Chief Physician Dr C. Bollmann and Senior Physician Dr S. Rabe, who showed great interest in the exchange.
The observership offers more than an opportunity to share medical expertise and practical experience. It also builds personal connections between doctors from both countries – an important foundation for sustainable cooperation.
The observership programme was initiated by Dr Martin Kummer, a member of the Foundation’s Board, and developed and implemented in close cooperation with the participating hospitals.
